No. 2 - Deep Tissue

Releasing + Powerful

This restorative deep-tissue massage is ideal for relieving patterns of tension by breaking down painful bundles of muscle knots.

Featuring a dynamic, intense approach, it loosens muscle fibers and improves circulation. It offers the perfect solution for sporty, active guests who are in tune with what their body requires and want a deeper structural massage to work out those niggling uncomfortable kinks.

This is the ideal therapeutic massage if you’re suffering from pain, tightness, or slight discomfort. Our in-depth knowledge of human anatomy allows us to curate treatments tailored to your problem areas. A deep-tissue massage can involve your entire body or just one area. Before your deep-tissue massage, your therapist will ask about your target areas. For instance, a deep-tissue back massage focuses on the upper and lower back muscles.

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • Swedish massage (or relaxing massage) is one of the most common and sought-after forms of massage therapy. It is designed to ease surface-level tension, stimulate circulation, and relieve stress. Deep-tissue massage builds on Swedish massage, using many basic strokes but applying increased pressure. Whereas Swedish massage therapists use hands and fingertips, deep-tissue massage incorporates elbows and forearms to reach those deep layers of muscle tissue.

  • Due to the more intense nature of deep-tissue massage, a certain amount of "good pain" or "discomfort" is to be expected. But you will experience a wonderful sense of relief directly afterward.

  • Myofascial release releases tightness in the connective tissues, fascia, and muscles. Gentle pressure (using sustained pressure to stretch and lengthen the connective tissue without lubricants) is applied to loosen the tightness in the fascia. Deep-tissue massage releases chronic muscle tension and knots using kneading and stroking to relax the muscles.

  • Unlike other massage techniques that induce relaxation, deep-tissue massage focuses on treating muscle pain and improving stiffness. This intensely satisfying and therapeutic treatment offers a balance between an enjoyable release of tension and the muscles "pushing back" against the pressure applied – helping to soothe chronic pain. It also enables you to unwind mentally.

  • In our initial assessment and consultation, our guests are welcome to discuss which areas they’d prefer their massage therapist to concentrate on. For instance, deep-tissue back massage and leg pain deep-tissue massage offer different pressure points to be used as focal points.

  • A deep-tissue massage is not recommended during the first trimester. Instead, we recommend booking a specialist pregnancy treatment (No. 5). However, during the second and third trimesters, a deep-tissue massage can work wonders for pregnant women's back, shoulders, and feet strain.
